Artist Educator<\/h1>\n

As an artist-educator of many years\u2019 experience I have worked with various age groups and with special needs students. I have run workshops responding to the collections of both galleries and museums, to encourage experimentation and development according to the capabilities of the students.<\/span><\/p>\n

Celebrating the opening of the Jameel Gallery
Turkish Slipper Making<\/em><\/p>\n

In celebration of the opening of the Jameel Gallery, I ran a workshop in response to the Art of the Middle Eastern Collection<\/em>, 2006. Adults and children designed and made a made slipper, developing skills and producing individual work.<\/p>\n

COURTAULD INSTITUTE OF ART<\/h6>\n

Learning at Somerset House
Heaven on Earth: Art from Islamic Lands<\/em>, 2004<\/p>\n

Students were introduced to the exhibition and encouraged to take part in discussions and to draw in front the art work. In the studio, inspired by the exhibition, students designed their own tiles, exhibiting the final pieces together with other schools at Somerset House.<\/p>\n

SOMERSET HOUSE<\/h6>\n

Free Time Sunmmer Festival
Installation Project: Shrines<\/em><\/p>\n

This event often attracts and audience of 6000 people per day. The brief was to develop a project to establish a link between Somerset House as a cultural location and the India Now<\/em> celebrations.<\/p>\n

The family-lead workshops engaged with the theme of shrines, and responded to my installation as the starting point for making imaginative and diverse art work as an integral part of the project.<\/p>\n

Annette Richardson, Head of Public Programmes, Families and Learning, remarked, \u2018She is that rare breed; an artist for whom professionalism, energy and creativity are combined in equal measure, with an ability to communicate her love of art and design to inspire a breath of audiences\u2019.<\/p>\n

ROYAL ACADEMY OF ART<\/h6>\n

Exhibition: David Hockney, A Bigger Picture<\/em>, 2012<\/p>\n

This project involved a gallery lecture and to adults with mental health issues where analysis of sketching from A Bigger Picture<\/em> was included. This was followed by a studio session in which the participants were guided through practical challenges and personal interpretation of the work.<\/p>\n

Exhibition: InMind at the Royal Academy<\/em>, 2012-2013<\/p>\n

Sessions were run for individuals living with dementia accompanied by friends and family in which conversations were encouraged in response to artworks from the permanent collection, as well as handling objects and the tailor-made multi-sensory handling collection.<\/p>\n
